I need verizon wireless help (upgrading)?

Hello, I am currently on a family plan and I have the env3. I have had nothing but problems with this phone and the last time I went to Verizon, they said that I can upgrade my phone. My question is, when I upgrade can I upgrade to a android smartphone like the Casio Commando and get the two year pricing on the phone? Or am I stuck with the crappy feature phones until my parents contract expires... I dont mind paying for the data package of 29.99 a month.
