Sheriff came to my house when I was gone should I confront them?

My neighbor said that when I was gone on a trip, the sheriff came by at night time and shined their flashlight on the plate of my car. That really disturbs me. I have my tags. Should I call them and ask what the crap they want??? I don't want any surprises and I am no nonsense when it comes to law enforcement as I have had some bad experiences dealing with them. Is this a good idea? Or leave it alone?
